NEW - UK Ministry of Justice deploys AI into prison system to curb rising prisoner attacks on officers, this will include an AI violence predictor to access an inmates risk levels, scanning confiscated phones for messages, digital ID to link offenders to to court records, digital assistants and potentially wearable tech for behaviour monitoring and other AI applications.
Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood told tech companies she wants “deeper collaboration between government and tech to solve the prison capacity crisis, reduce reoffending and make communities safer.”
