REPORT — UK Defense Secretary John Healey warns “the keyboard has become a weapon of war”. The British military will spend more than £1B on artificial intelligence and a hacking team in an effort to give the Armed Forces more online powers to attack states such as Russia.
Offensive operations will be carried out by a new Cyber and Electromagnetic Command that will oversee a £1B investment in advanced AI-powered targeting systems and a “kill network” that links military systems.
Healey said the command unit, which will be included in the government’s Strategic Defense Review (SDR) due to be published on Monday, would set “new standards” in defense.
