BREAKING 🚨 “FDA set to BAN natural desiccated thyroid medications.
Millions rely on these for hypothyroidism who don’t respond well to synthetic thyroid pharmaceuticals.

The FDA is moving to restrict natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) medications, a lifeline for millions with hypothyroidism. On August 6, 2025 the FDA sent a letter to all manufacturers, importers and distributors of marketed unapproved animal-derived thyroid medications, also known as desiccated thyroid extract (DTE), which includes Armour Thyroid, NP Thyroid, Nature-Thyroid, and Natural Thyroid to notify them they (the FDA) intend to take action against all of the manufacturers, importers and distributors of DTEs.
Doctors will have the next 12 months to transition their patients to an FDA-approved synthetic thyroid hormone replacement medication such as Synthroid and Levothyroxine. Running my functional medicine telehealth center for over 15 years, I see firsthand how NDT transforms lives for patients worldwide. This is a critical tool in our toolbox, helping those who don’t respond to synthetic options. By running comprehensive labs, I see on a daily basis, things that are missed by basic conventional medicine panels, tailoring treatment to each patient’s unique needs. Banning NDT could strip away access for millions who rely on it to manage fatigue, low libido, hair loss, brain fog, fertility, weight gain, and other symptoms.
There’s hope. The FDA is a massive agency with many moving parts. I truly believe our voices will be heard and this will go under review and shift course. I personally know some of those at the helm and know they want the safest, most effective options for people. But I also know there are many variables when it comes to Big Pharma and the government.
