Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to assassinate President Trump.
But according to former FBI Director Andrew McCabe, the shooter wasn’t politically motivated.
“The Butler, Pennsylvania shooter, who attempted to assassinate then candidate, of course, now President Trump, we’ve never really been able to identify a distinct political commitment on the part of that shooter.”
“He was, I think, registered as a Republican but had contributed money to Democrats.”
“He had done research on the locations of President Trump, but also of President Biden at the same time.”
“But perfect example of someone who you can’t even paint him into one corner or the other.”
Right. He only tried to take out the Republican nominee—months before the election.
